Video Conversions @ The Studio
In The Studio, you can convert your VHS, VHS-C, Sony Handicam, HI-8 and Super 8mm films to digital copies. Patrons can make an appointment to utilize the equipment in the Studio.
VHS, VHS-C, HI-8, 8mm and Sony Handicam to Digital Conversion

The video converters capture video information in live time from a VHS, VHS-C, HI-8 or Sony Handicam Hi8 cassette and produces a digital signal that is then saved as an MP4.
Fees: Use of machine is free.
- A similar device is also available for checkout in our Library of Things (VCR not included)
8mm and Super 8mm Film Conversion

The Wolverine 8mm Digitizer captures 8mm or Super 8 film by scanning frame by frame. The final product creates a digital file that can be placed on a USB drive. We ask that you drop off the material for conversion.

Video Conversion Machines are for Sachem Public Library patrons with cards in good standing who have reviewed both of the Studio Makerspace Policy and Studio Service Fees and Limits. Conversion of analog to digital media is a real-time process, which takes place during your appointment. If your VHS tape is 90 minutes, it will take 90 minutes for the conversion plus time to transfer to external digital storage; or even more time to convert to CD/DVD.
