Who can reserve a Museum Pass?

Adult Sachem Library cardholders, 18 and over. Your card must be in good standing with less than $20 in fines. Keep in mind each museum reserves the right to determine the rules and regulations governing usage.

What if the museum is closed during the time I have a Museum Pass?

You are responsible for planning your trip. Be sure to check the destination’s hours before you reserve a Museum Pass. 

How do I know if it’s a Print-from-Home or Pickup/Return Pass?

Most of our passes are now Print-from-Home. They have a printer icon next to the name. Our Empire Pass, Guggenheim Museum, Long Island Children’s Museum, and Museum of Modern Art passes are Pickup/Return.

How often and how far in advance can I reserve a Museum Pass?

You can make two reservations in a 30-day period. Reservations can be made 60 days in advance.

Does a Museum Pass grant admission to all museum events/exhibits?

No, not all events/exhibits are covered by a Museum Pass and additional fees are the patron’s responsibility. Please contact the museum directly for more information.

How do I cancel my reservation for a pass?

Call the Welcome Desk to cancel your Museum Pass reservation.

Print-from-Home FAQs

How do I reserve a Museum Pass?

Print-from-Home passes must be reserved for the day you plan to use them and an email address is required for the reservation. These passes can be reserved online, by phone, or in-person at the Welcome Desk, up to 60 days in advance. Passes can be printed from home at any time or at the library (during normal business hours).

How long can I keep a Museum Pass?

Print-from-Home museum passes are only valid for the reservation date listed on the printed pass. They do not need to be returned to the library.

What do I need to bring to the museum?

You must bring your printed museum pass. After reserving a Print-from-Home pass you MUST print the confirmation page and bring it with you to the museum. This will serve as your pass. Electronic versions—on smartphones or tablets—will not be accepted by museums. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum requires you to bring your library card in conjunction with the printed pass.

Pick Up/Return at Library FAQs

How do I reserve a Museum Pass?

Museum Passes can be reserved online, by phone, or in person at the Welcome Desk. For reservations in January 2022 and forward, you will book the pass for the DATE YOU WILL PICK IT UP FROM THE LIBRARY.

How long may I keep the Museum Pass?

The pass is due back to the library in three days, with the following exceptions: Passes are not due on Sundays, New Year’s Eve, the day before Thanksgiving, or any day the library is closed. The due date will be indicated on the slip given to you at checkout.

What if I return the Museum Pass late?

A $20 per day fee will be charged to your library card if the pass is returned late.

What if I lose the Museum Pass?

A replacement fee equal to the full value of the missing pass will be charged to your card.
