Sachem Public Library is constantly seeking to innovate and refresh our spaces to meet the ever changing interests and needs of our community. Here’s a highlight of some of our changes in the past decade.
Renovations to upper and lower levels introduced comfortable, diner style, studying booths and private, sound proof study pods for 1-6 people.
2025-2026
Entryway project replaced cracking concrete with slate pavers, and a glass and wrought iron facade.
2022-2024
Renovation of our cafe space, with new tenant Brewport Cafe, opened in August 2023.
2023
Dedication ceremony unveiled the Carol Paulsen Pavilion in the Inside/Out Garden on June 9, 2022.
2022
Creation of the Community Garden as part of the Inside/Out Garden, where programs and community planting projects are held.
2021-2022
Dedication Ceremony named the Dennis Flavin Board Room on June 11, 2021.
2021
First annual Garden of Lights event, featuring large LED light display, music and story stations opened in December, 2018.
2018
Discovery Grove, an outdoor classroom expanded the Children’s Department with play-based learning in a nature setting, opened July 27, 2018.

Haunted Garden, an annual spooky Halloween walkthrough event for families, featuring animatronics, inflatables and literary scenes, opened October, 2016.
