The Studio offers CO2 based laser engravers. Designs can be created using a variety of software as long as the finished product is saved in a common format. Materials for engraving are submitted by the patron along with their design. Submissions are completed in the order they are received. Although many submissions are completed within a week, this is may change depending on our queue and the particular scope of the project. Submissions cannot be guaranteed by a certain date. Submitting a Laser Engraver Project
Access to this device is reserved for patrons of the Sachem Public Library with cards in good standing who have also reviewed our Studio Makerspace Policy. All file submissions must be submitted for review prior to engraving. Materials must be supplied by the patron and be scheduled for drop off at the library. Materials can often be found in dollar or home improvement stores. Submissions are completed in the order they were received. Although many submissions are completed within a week, this is may change depending on our queue and the particular scope of the project. Submissions cannot be guaranteed by a certain date. Our Laser Engravers
Bosslaser LS-2440
The 105 Watt Boss Laser can engrave on wood, glass and leather that is up to 24″ by 40″ in size.
Epilog Mini 18
The 30 Watt Mini 18 can engrave on wood, glass or leather that is no larger than 12″ wide x 18″ long x 3.5″ deep.
Laser Engraving Services
Laser Engraving
The following materials can be engraved with high quality text and/or images:
Glass: Drinking, awards, and flat glass (no crystal).
Wood: White pine, cherry, locust, maple, basswood, or any wood without a prominent grain.
Leather: Must be evaluated by Studio staff prior to engraving.
Fees: 25¢ per minute
Laser Cutting
Softwood up to 1/8″ thickness can be cut. Any other materials or thicknesses must be evaluated by Studio staff prior to cutting.
