Friends of Sachem Public Library
Friends
of Sachem Public Library are an enthusiastic and dedicated group of volunteers
committed to supporting Sachem Public Library. Since 1986,
they have provided funding to the Library through sales of books and book
bags. Throughout these twenty plus years, the Friends have made many
major contributions to the Library. Additionally, their sponsorship
of library programs and special events benefits the entire community. Each
spring, Friends of Sachem Public Library offer two $500 scholarships to
graduating seniors who live in the Sachem school district.
As record numbers of patrons enjoy our wonderful Library, Friends of the Sachem Public Library continue to support, enrich and help expand the library's services to our community.
Since 1986, we Friends have been a not-for-profit organization dedicated to volunteer work and to the financing of the extras that increase the library's vitality and value.
In 2011, Friends of Sachem Public Library celebrates our 25th Anniversary of ongoing support to the library.

Friends' Gifts To The Library
Over the years the Friends have generously supported library activities through their purchases of such items as:
- Inside/Out garden benches
- Funding for the Library's Museum Adventure service
- Construction of brick entrance walkway
- An assistive hearing system for the Community Room
- A contribution toward the piano
- A portable wheel chair
- An emergency defibrillator
- Book baskets for Library browsing
- Gallery display case on lower level
- A Clearview on-screen magnifier for the visually impaired
And for the community's children...
- A new sound & projection system
- An entire series of hand puppets
- A die-cutting machine for paper shapes
- A large activity play cube
