Blood Pressure Screening

Free blood pressure screening by a registered nurse is available on the first Thursday of each month from noon to 1:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Book Discussion Meetings

Book discussion groups are a great way of combing your joy of reading with meeting other enthusiasts to trade thoughts and ideas and in a friendly setting.

For fiction readers, the library hosts a book discussion group that meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. to discuss a classic or a contemporary novel. There is also another group that meets every 4th Thursday at noon.

For those who prefer non-fiction there is the American History Book discussion group. For each session, a general theme is chosen, i.e. America's Wars and America's Writers. This group meets on the fourth Monday of every month at 3 p.m.

Career Counseling

Defensive Driving

An insurance and point reduction program that teaches driving safety. For more information, ask for the Welcome Desk.

English Conversation

Practice speaking English. Adult Services Librarians lead a lively conversation group and encourage the free flow of ideas among community residents. For more information, ask for the Reference Desk.

GRASP (GED at Home)

This distance learning program is a non-traditional way to prepare for the High School Equivalency Examination. For more information, ask for the Reference Desk.

Library Tour

Learn about library services as you tour the building. Offfered on the first Friday of the month at 11 a.m. For more information, inquire at the Welcome Desk.

LIRR to New York City

On the last Saturday of the month, travel as a group at a reduced rate from the Ronkonkoma Railroad Station to Penn Station. Return on your own. For more information, ask for the Welcome Desk.

Literacy Volunteers

Work one on one with a tutor and learn to read through Literacy Volunteers of America Suffolk. Applications are available at the Reference Desk.

Notary

A Notary Public is generally available Monday 10:00-12 noon, Wednesday 2:00-4:00pm and Friday 6pm-8pm. During July and August, Friday hours are 2pm-4pm. Please call ahead to confirm the Notary Public's availability.

Reel Rebels

The Reel Rebels film group meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6pm to watch and then discuss a selected documentary, foreign or independent film.
